Now is the time to join the 2018 Walk to End Alzheimer’s® walks across the country, which start later this summer and run through November. Comfort Keepers is one of 40 National Walking Teams this year.
Here are some of the key highlights from 2017’s Walk:
We had 123 teams, with 1,013 walkers, across the country.
Comfort Keepers collectively raised $75,092.
The Travelling Trophy, awarded to the #1 fundraising team, was presented to the Traverse City, MI Comfort Keepers office, owned by Russ and Leslie Knopp. They raised over $7,000. (See this article
that gave them some great publicity)
Our 2018 National Walking Team is at the Member Level and it gives us brand exposure via:
Recognition on the National Teams section of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s website
A customized National Team online tool kit and recognition poster you can use in your market
Our goal this year is to raise $75,000 collectively and have each team raise money for their local chapter.
We want everyone to raise funds, as every dollar counts. The goal is to have NO ‘zero dollar’ teams (i.e., those that walked but didn’t do a self-donation or raise money). Comfort Keepers had 26 teams (21%) with no donations/fundraising. We can help overcome that with some friendly competition!
This year, CKFI will incentivize local teams in 4 ways:
$2,000 donation to the top 2 fundraising teams as of December 31, 2018
AND donate $500 to 2 teams that that have raised funds, at least $25 (NOT zero-dollar teams), via a random drawing
Who will be the four lucky Comfort Keepers teams to get an incentive donation? Which Comfort Keepers office will raise the most funds for 2018 and earn the beautiful, Travelling Trophy this year?
Click here for the Comfort Keepers national walking team page and create your local team in your city. They have email templates you can use to help recruit walkers and raise funds for your local walk. And don’t forget to check CK Brand > Programs > Alzheimer’s & Dementia > Walk to End Alzheimer’s for more info.
Look for a Team Captain Kickoff webinar later in June, presented by the Alzheimer’s Association. This will be a great overview for local team captains on how to fundraise and motivate your walkers. Look for further Walk to End Alzheimer’s updates here on Friday Flash.
