Who is the Proud Owner of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s® National Team Trophy?
And the winner is…Comfort Keepers®! We are all winners as Comfort Keepers across the nation created local walking teams, raised funds, and had an impact in the fight to end Alzheimer’s. Thank you to all franchisees, team captains, walkers, and those who donated and supported each and every team in our third year as a National Team. Here is a snapshot of our 2017 fundraising:
- 123 teams (3% YOY growth) with 1,008 individual walkers (12% YOY decrease)
- Raised $70,392 (14% YOY decrease)
- 79% of all teams raised funds (21% of teams had ‘zero dollar’ fundraising).
- This was a 1% change (increase in fundraising) compared to last year, which is good. Our goal is to have 100% of teams raise money and 0% of ‘zero dollar’ teams.
- The average walker raised $61.83 this year compared to $71.55 last year (2% decrease)

And the #1 Comfort Keepers walking team is Comfort Keepers – Traverse City, MI with a total of $6,240 raised. A huge congratulations to franchise owners Russ and Leslie Knopp and team captain Libby Struik. The traveling trophy will be heading to the team in the next few weeks.
Comfort Keepers moved up a level and committed to be a SILVER level national team with a fundraising goal of $100,000. CKFI also implemented an incentive fundraising bonus to 4 local teams – and Shumsky, our apparel vendor, donated 5% of sales to each office that ordered the Comfort Keepers WTEA t-shirts. While we fell short of the $100,000 commitment, we continue to make an impact for people affected with Alzheimer’s disease—clients, families and communities.
Stay tuned for 2018 walk details, as the Alzheimer’s Association’s Leadership Summit and National Team conference is later this month. CKFI looks forward to bringing home new fundraising ideas that each local team captain and owner can implement for local walks in 2018.
